Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. The reporting she did included plenty of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra affair, the budget and tax reform and also the issue of arms control. She traveled widely along with President Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
